Anti-Islamophobia/Anti-Racism Education:

To conduct and support research on the impact of Islamophobia on the psychological, economic, social and mental health of Muslims.

  • Organize sector-specific training on building resistance to Islamophobia.

  • Develop spiritual and psychological counseling models for specific populations to address internalized Islamophobia, self-isolation, and vicarious trauma.

January 29, 2019

Six Muslim men were massacred, and many injured, while they were praying at a mosque in Quebec City. One worshiper was left paraplegic. The accused was charged with murder and sentenced.

September 10, 2020

Mohammed-Aslim Zafis, caretaker of a Mosque in Toronto, sat outside said Mosque whereupon a man walked up to him and killed him by slashing his throat.

June 2021

A Muslim family in London, Ontario, is killed by a 20-year-old, who rammed his truck into them while they were out for a Sunday walk, murdering 3 generations of the family: the only survivor, a 9-year-old boy. It was according to police, a premeditated hate crime against the family because they were Muslim.

2001-2022

2001-2022: Numerous incidents of harassment, physical assault and verbal abuse against Muslim women wearing hijab, vandalism of Mosques, Muslim businesses, schools were recorded across Canada .

Building Resistance To Islamophobia

This guide aims to raise awareness about Islamophobia and its impact on Canadian Muslims. Its purpose is to educate and inform on the various aspects of Islamophobic-based discrimination experienced by Muslims or those perceived to be Muslims.
The rise of Islamophobic-based violence, hate speech, hate crimes and its infiltration into public, governmental and private sectors in Canada is highly concerning. Indeed, it requires a concerted effort on the part of all Canadians to stand together to address and reject Islamophobia.
This booklet is a brief effort to educate and inform Canadians about the nature, elements and stratagems of Islamophobia. It alongside seeks to: encourage conversations about Islam and Muslims that are healthy and well-informed; foster social harmony and societal cohesion; and to dispel misinformation and uphold the human dignity of all Canadians.
In light of these objectives, Islamophobia, where necessary, has been contextualized within international, multifaceted nuances to inform on this global movement and its impact in Canada.

A guide to assist Canadian educators, guidance counselors and parent-teacher councils to be informed and equipped to teach and educate themselves as well as their students about Muslims, their cultures and their faith, and how to deal with islamophobia.
